Nearly 1 Million Tourists During Lunar New Year in Cambodia

PHNOM PENH: Tourism in Cambodia continues to grow following the full reopening of the country and the lifting of restrictions thanks to the success of the national vaccination campaign. Over the three days of the Lunar New Year, a total of 947,497 domestic and international tourists, including 931,308 nationals and 16,189 domestic foreigners, travelled across Cambodia during the Lunar New Year.

Ministry of Tourism spokesman, Top Sopheak, said that in the three days of the Lunar New Year, between 1-3 February 2022, Cambodia received nearly 1 million domestic tourists, which is an increase of 6.15% compared to 2021.

He added that Phnom Penh was the destination that received the most tourists, followed by Battambang, Siem Reap and other coastal provinces, such as Sihanoukville, Kep and Kampot.

According to a report from the Ministry of Tourism, during the three days of the Lunar New Year, Phnom Penh received 258,069 visitors, Battambang 193,567, Sihanoukville 97,542, Kampot 66,534, Siem Reap 58,953, Kep 55,251, and Kandal 52,394 people.
